The Focal Upright Mobis II Seat is another innovative active seat from Focal Upright, that breaks the unhealthy mold of your traditional chair - adding Movement and Posture like no desk chair can. You don’t sit on the Mobis Seat - you lean into it, and move with it... and the results are invigorating!
The Mobis II functions much like the famed Locus Seat, but without the anti-fatigue mat and foot rest. This makes the Mobis a more mobil option, or a great option for areas where space might be limited (retail counters, reception desks, meeting rooms, etc.).
When compared to the Pivot Seat, the Mobis can be used as a much more stable option - offering more support, but less movement.
For a comfortable and healthy experience, we strongly suggest adding a footrest to go with it!
Movement: Never stop moving - even when you "sit"
The science is very clear: excess sitting and a sedentary lifestyle deteriorate health and shorten life-span, and even an hour-a-day of exercise isn't enough to counteract the effects. To be truly active and healthy, you have to maximize your "Non-Exercise Activity". Pair the Mobis Seat with your standing desk, and you now have the ability to move and stay active for ALL hours of your work day.
Want to make the Mobis even more supportive? Make it a bundle and add the stabilizing foot rest (and save a few dollars while you’re at it).
Here's a short video about how to get the most out of your Mobis Seat:
Being able to work upright has helped my back, my feet, and my knee.......................My energy level is excellent.....my weight and blood pressure are both down to recent lows(14 years).
This is not only the BEST leaning chair on the market, well thought thru, well design, solid materials and downright pretty, but the sturdiest. That the seat isn't soft enough isn't a problem because you're not supposed to sit on it! You should keep the chair a bit higher than normal, pull it forward to lower it, then lean on it. After a while, the feet do get a tiny bit tired but far less so than standing on them.
I also bought the standing desk which is manufactured with the same integrity and high quality materials. At times you want to leave the chair and just stand at the desk which relaxes many muscles. The whole idea of using a high desk and standing may not be acceptable widely, because people just don't want to change their habits! Only people "with intelligence" have the amenity to take the road less travelled on.
This is a great product that compliments at sit-stand work station.
My only criticism is that the cushion seat angle is not adjustable. Videos of the Locus product show an adjustable angle but this is not the case for the Mobis.
When doing computer work where your torso is in a neutral position this is not a factor.
However, when positioned in a forward flexed position to read or do other desk work the seat angle is still too flat to allow the optimal open hip angle. This results in contact with a small portion of the front of the seat, as opposed to distributing load across the whole surface of the seat. It doesn't help that the seat is also quite firm and doesn't extend past the hard plastic underneath along the edges of the seat.
All in all a great product that's definitely worth buying if you do mostly computer work. However a few design elements still need to be implemented to improve comfort in a forward flexed position.
